A Party of Husky Dogs in Karachi, Pakistan
Last year, five
friends living in the Defense area of Karachi started a group for their pet
husky dogs (a breed of dog), which now consists of about 150 dogs. The social
group is called “The Dogo Ranch”.
Huskies are
high-breed dogs that are often found in cold countries. The trend of keeping
husky dogs in Karachi is gaining momentum but these dogs are kept indoors in
air-conditioned or cooler rooms to protect them from the sun and heat.
Because of their
value, these dogs are often abducted. The five friends started a social group
for their dogs at the venue of the celebrations inside the Lecole Institute in
the Defense area of Karachi to keep their dogs safe.
When the educational
institutions in Karachi were closed due to the Corona epidemic, these dogs and
their owners used to meet in this social group two days a week. But as the
number of other dogs increased, Sunday was set aside for the group.
Now every Sunday
people from different parts of Karachi bring their pet dogs in this group to
meet other dogs and it is like a dog party.
Muhammad Ahmed,
managing director of the Lecole Institute, said that the group, which started
with a few dogs, has now grown considerably. It used to be private but now we
have opened it to the public. Not only do people bring their dogs here but also
many families who are planning to have a dog and want to take training in this
regard.
Mohammad Ahmed added
that there are many people who are fond of dogs but they are not allowed to
keep dogs. We have opened “The Dogo Ranch” for anyone who wants to come here
and meet the dogs.
The Only Cafe in Saudi Arabia Where Pet Dogs Can Go
Dog owners in Saudi
Arabia are happy that they can now sit in a new cafe with their favorite pet
and drink coffee. This is the first cafe of its kind in Saudi Arabia.
Dogs are considered
unclean in Islam and are banned in public places in Saudi Arabia. But the
opening of a cafe called 'Barking Lot' in Al-Khabar city in June this
year has sent a wave of happiness among the dog breeders in the country.
According to the AFP
news agency, the religious police of Saudi Arabia had banned the movement of
animals. According to them, men used to swear at women under the guise of
animals but violation of this ban has now become a common thing while the
presence of animals in public places has also become common.
However, under Saudi
Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's vision 2030, major changes are taking place
in Saudi Arabia. Animal shelters have sprung up in many cities and raising
stray animals is becoming a popular hobby.
Dalal Ahmed, the
Kuwaiti owner of Barking Lot, says he came up with the idea during a trip to
Saudi Arabia. He said: 'I came to Saudi Arabia with my dog but I was not
allowed to take it on the beach with me. I'm sorry so I decided to open a cafe
where the owners could come with their dogs. '
Young boys and girls
come to his cafe with their different kinds of dogs.
Some animals play
with balls in the cafe while others sit on the laps of their owners. Some
animals wait for their owners at the counter who are busy drinking.
Dog bathing and
cleaning services are also provided in one part of the cafe.
