Pet Breeding in Pakistan
A pet is an animal that a person keeps
for his own protection. Pets are different from cattle. The main reason for
raising them is to get the necessities of life like meat, milk, skin and wool
etc. Popular pets include animals and birds such as dogs, cats, parrots and
pigeons that have been bred in human societies for centuries. Children love
their pets, which is why pet owners are mostly teenagers. These animals are
also sold.
Pakistan has made great strides in the
field of pet health and modern breeding over the past few years, while frozen
semen is also used to breed high-breed dogs, but veterinary experts say the
practice is unpopular around the world. It will be difficult to identify the
real breed of dogs.
The Lahore Veterinary University of
Animal Sciences had successfully experimented with artificial insemination in
dogs in 2011, which raised hopes that Siemens' transfer to any dog would now
lead to higher breeds of dogs. Now, however, veterinary experts say that
children born with artificial insemination have a variety of complications. Due
to which cross breeding has been banned not only in Pakistan but also in many
countries of the world.
Dr. Zahid Tahir, Pakistan's first
repertoire to serve in an animal hospital in Lahore, says modern laboratories
are now available to test pets and several veterinary departments have been set
up. Many breeds of dogs, especially the German shepherd, are banned from
obtaining artificial breeds. However, there are many breeders in Pakistan who
want to breed high-breed dogs of any breed from different females.
Pet Club Pakistan President Fahim Asghar
says that many people still use old traditional methods of dog breeding but
modern methods and technology are being used in Dog and Cats Club.
Veterinarian Dr. Timur Saleem said that
dog breeding is more prevalent in Pakistan than cats. People try to breed more
dogs than dogs while on the contrary cats are neutered so that they can give
birth to offspring.
The First Pet Hotel in Pakistan
For the first time in the history of
Pakistan, a pet hotel has been set up. The good news for animal breeders is
that a pet hotel is under construction in Lahore and will be inaugurated soon.
Spread over 18 Kanals, the hotel will
have facilities for keeping all kinds of animals for which pools, small and
large, spacious cages for keeping all kinds of birds, indoor and outdoor
playgrounds and gardens etc. have been set up.
The hotel will also provide a free home
delivery service for pet food. There will also be an 8-kanal park for dogs and
special training for them.
Most importantly, pet owners will be able
to monitor their animals at home, and will be able to monitor the movements of
animals on their mobile phones via the Internet.
The hotel management has created a page
on the social networking website through which people are being informed about
the hotel stay.
