Parrotlets are a group of the tiniest
New World species of the parrot, including numerous species, that is Forpus,
Nannopsittaca, and Touit. They have sturdy shapes and short tails and are common
in Middle and South America.
In the forests, Parrotlets
travel in groups of about 4 to over 100 birds. Maximum species travel in groups
of about 5 to 40 birds. They make enduring and tight couples relation with
their selected mates.
Parrotlets are the tiniest
parrots usually bred in captivity. The species Forpus, mostly the celestial or
Pacific Parrotlet, is developing with convenience and accepted in aviculture
due to their size.
Personality and Behavior
If left unaccompanied for a long
time, the Parrotlet can lose some of its sociability. The Pacific Parrotlet, especially,
does not realize that it is a small bird, and has a slight concern as facing
other animals and humans. Parrotlets, generally, are energetic, loving, and intentional.
If somebody wants an unlimited acquaintance they must hold only one bird,
because a pair of parrotlets will perhaps bond hardly to each other without the
holder. Though parrotlets are dimorphic and peaceful to keep together, and
they do like each other’s company. They can also be kept peacefully in groups
in large coops, but it’s good to keep them lonely from other parrots. They will
fight for the things and territory, so keep them separate from other species.
